WHY THIS CAMPAIGN?
Major military decisions are often discussed in Washington long before most Americans feel that they have any meaningful way to enter the conversation.
DWAL exists to make public concern visible before further escalation becomes treated as inevitable.
The campaign does not ask people to agree on every question involving Iran, Israel, U.S. foreign policy, or the Middle East. People can disagree about how the current conflict began, what prior military actions were justified, and what policies should come next.
The shared point is narrower: sending American ground forces into Iran would be an enormously consequential step, and Americans should speak clearly before that step is taken.

WHAT DWAL IS — AND ISN’T
DWAL is centered on preventing deployment of U.S. ground forces in Iran and opposing further escalation toward a larger war.
Participation does not require agreement on every question about the region, the conflict, or U.S. policy.
People may arrive here through concern for military lives, strategy, peace, national interest, economic consequences, veterans, diplomacy, or other values.
DWAL offers tools and prompts, but the most powerful public expression is personal, accurate, and genuinely yours.
WHY VISIBILITY MATTERS
Political leaders hear from professional advocates, organized interests, donors, experts, and institutions every day. What can be harder to see is the quiet judgment of ordinary people in communities across the country.
A sign in a yard is one voice. A letter in a local newspaper is one voice. Neither has to represent everyone.
But when independent voices begin appearing in many communities, they can reveal something that polling numbers and political messaging often fail to capture:
People are paying attention — and they want a say before the next decision is made.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
DWAL was started by RE Mason, whose work has consistently centered on building resilience, strengthening communities, and bringing people together across boundaries larger than political parties.
Her background includes work as a multi-subject secondary teacher, interfaith hospital chaplain with extensive service in VA hospitals, long-haul truck driver, nonprofit executive, and resilience and security consultant.
Across those roles, she has worked with people and institutions connected to education, grassroots social services, foreign affairs and national security policy, agriculture, law enforcement, and both rural and urban/suburban communities.
That range of experience informs DWAL’s approach: a focused public campaign that welcomes people who may differ politically, professionally, geographically, and culturally, but who share concern about further U.S. military escalation in Iran.
